RWHA Scholarship Fund
Recipients of the RWHA scholarship must be members, or the legal children or grandchildren of the member.
The scholarship will be awarded for additional education in any agricultural or farm related field or any field that assists or ties in with agriculture or farming.
The winner of the scholarship will be determined by written essay presented to the board for review and with a minimum of 4 out of 5 board members determining the recipient. The essay will be no longer than 2 written pages either hand written or typed and must be legible. If field of study is not immediately recognizable as agricultural or farm related, the essay must show how the field of study will assist in those fields.
For the year 2014, in the event the RWHA scholarship funds have not reached the goal of $250.00, the RWHA will contribute the additional balance in order to award the first RWHA scholarship beginning the spring of 2014.
Scholarship funds will come from fund raising projects and donations and will be deposited in a separate bank account solely for that purpose. No funds will be co-mingled at any time for any reason and no funds will be removed from the scholarship fund except for the specific purpose of the scholarships. Funds will be monitored by 5 board members as all funds are currently monitored by the Board of Directors.
Currently the scholarship amount determined by the Board of Directors is $250.00. The amount may increase by unanimous board discretion depending on the current balance however the amount awarded will not be less than $250.00 in any given year. If necessary the RWHA will contribute additional funds in any given year to award no less than and/or no more than $250.00. Those additional funds will be recorded by the RWHA treasurer appropriately as a withdrawal from the RWHA operational account and contribution to the RWHA scholarship fund.
Distribution of funds will be directly to the education facility in the recipient’s name where possible and to be used at recipients discretion. Where not possible, recipient must provide the Board of Directors with receipts confirming the funds were used for education purposes.
